Back in September of this year, Shelby American introduced its latest Shelby Mustang to the stable, which is the all-new ’15-’16 Shelby GT EcoBoost model.
At the time, we only had a few images and a brochure filled with some additional options on the car, until today. Shelby has released their in-depth walk around review of the latest GT model.
The video explains that the all-new Shelby GT EcoBoost model is a post-title package, and will not be available at dealerships as a pre-title vehicle. Unfortunate as that may sound, there’s a reason for this. First, it saves enthusiasts a lot of money by allowing the additional features of the package to be optional and not standard. If all of the options available were to come standard in the package, you can bet the price would almost double.
Second, a post-title package allows for enthusiasts to ‘custom-tailor’ their package; meaning no one Shelby will be the same as the other. Thirdly, the all-new Shelby GT EcoBoost model is being offered as a world-wide platform, presumably after seeing the success of the sixth-generation Mustang in European countries and Australia. Offering a package for a global platform cuts material costs immensely, allowing those savings to be transferred directly to the customers.
Shelby also recently announced that the company plans to open a network of new ‘mod shops’ globally in countries like Europe, South Africa, China, and Australia. The decision to open a network of new mod shops only reinstates the savings to enthusiasts yet again, as customers across-the-pond won’t have to wait (or pay) for overseas shipping or items which need to go through customs.
The Mustang has gone worldwide, and now so it seems only fitting that now so is the Shelby name.
