Most definitely a cut against the grain, James Schwartz has pulled off one crazy custom. Posted on YouTube, check out “The Great Depression,” a Ford Model A that has been completely reimagined.

Is it a hot rod, a street rod, or neither? There’s so much going on with this custom Model A that it is breathtaking. What literally looks to be a concept rendering straight out of a video game, James Schwartz took a rendering by Aaron Beck and made it a reality.
What all began with a Ford Model A cab, James conducted some serious metal fabrication, including a six-inch chop and a shortened front grille. A custom frame was made from square tubing, with a C-notch in the rear, allowing the custom to sit as low as possible.

Searching for an engine to drop into the empty body, James found an F20C 2.0L inline-four cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission out of a Honda S2000. Supplementing the Japanese mill up front for the Model A, James also grabbed the S2000’s digital dash to use as the Ford’s standard telemetry.
A rear wing with an LED bar acts the brake, reverse, and turn signal lights on the custom Ford. A custom rear diffuser and a functional air scoop was crafted from the back of the roof, feeding air into the rear-mounted radiator.
Although it has recently been sold, we commend James for his wondrous build, which is truly outside of the box and against conventional hot rodding norms. What are your thoughts? Is there too much going on? Be sure to share your comments below.
