When it comes to restomods, we’ve just about seen them all. We love them all but we also long for something that’s just a little bit different, and Aaron Kaufman’s Tick Tock 1963 Ford Falcon is just different enough to pull it off. While it’s not as fancy looking as many others, the fact that he’s driving it hard and sliding it around turns (and even getting a little airborn in one scene) makes it all that much better.
If Kaufman looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen him on Gas Monkey Garage. If he doesn’t look familiar, that long beard and rebel-rousing will be something to remember. But more than just a video of a car wreaking havoc in the streets, our video has a plot: it’s Valentine’s Day and it’s a race to deliver the goods. They’re off, and about midway through it’s donuts in the air and the po-po is on the trail – and gets lost along the way by a menace on a moped with an extended digit.
The interior of Tick Tock is quite barren and race-like, and the exterior is basically white with a black hood. And then it gets interesting. Underneath the hood lies a 363ci Ford Racing small block fed by a Holley 750 HP carburetor, with MSD handling the fire in the holes. The power is fed through a Richmond T10 with a QuickTime bellhousing, and that puts it to the ground on a set of Nitto NTo5 tires riding on some beautiful Forgeline 18-inch wheels.
Not that he seemed to use them much in the video above, but when Kaufman finally arrives for his Valentine’s date, Wilwood six-piston calipers up front, aided by four-piston calipers in the rear, help bring the nasty Falcon to a stop. A Global West front suspension with a Ridetech three-link rear suspension keep the car stable at speeds, and a Chris Alston swaybar keeps it level, with Ridetech triple adjustable coilovers on all four corners.
So what’s your take on this beast? Does this help make the Falcon rise up in the ranks among all the cookie-cutter Pro-touring cars out there? Looks like a lot of fun and damn cool in our books!
