On April 23rd Jonathan Ward of ICON posted a video of this 1939 Nash that’s currently for sale and located at the ICON facility. Though this beautiful ’39 outfitted with its original components has, according to Jonathan, been sitting for almost a year and a half his crew was able to charge the original 6-volt setup and drive it around the lot for prospective buyers.
According to Jonathan, “I stumbled into this car in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. My son’s name is Nash so I had all sorts of romantic notions of building him an ICON Derelict out of this, but reality has sunk in and I need to get him something practical–we’ll revisit this concept later. In the mean time, I’ve just got too much stuff in the parking lot.”
Found during a trip to the annual SEMA Show Jonathan says that as far as he can tell nothing has been done to compromise the original factory setup of the car. This is a great selling point for any builder or restorer that wants to put their mark on an entire project.
Comically, Jonathan sheds a bit of light on the ’39 Nash’s history of being advertised as both transportation and living quarters for traveling salesman. He says, “I don’t think my wife liked the connotations of a 16-year old son having a rolling bed, so maybe that’s part of the problem.” With the ability to attach fitted mesh screens to the windows and adjust both front and rear bench seats to form somewhat of a “queen-size” bed we agree that the shenanigans factor of this Nash is mischievously high–send it our way Jonathan!
