Coming out of Hamilton, New Zealand, a group consisting of 15 guys call themselves the Trouble Bound Hot Rod Club. Posted on Hot Rod Revue, we take a look into the club and how they came to be.

Founded in 2010, the Trouble Bound Hot Rod Club is a small club that simply appreciates kustom kulture and everything it has to offer. Wanting to be different and represented on their own, some of the members expressed why they all banded together.

“We’re just a bunch of muppets with some cars,” Trouble Bound member Shane Adlington said. “We’re like minded, no Mustangs, no Corvettes, and no yellow cars.”

Another member expressed how close and passionate the Trouble Bound crew is as a whole. “We wanted to get away from the old guys since they were doing whatever they want,” said Trouble Bound member Jack Rainbow.

Feeling content with 15 members, they feel it is better than having a large club simply because everyone knows each other. They expressed that it’s easier for them to get together and do things as a club without any problems.

When asked how the crew got their name, Adlington answered humorously. “The actual name came to be because its easy to say when we’re drunk,” he said. When the name came to mind, Adlington got it tatted on him by a Bulgarian girl who spoke no English whatsoever.

Carrying on the torch of old school hot rodding in New Zealand, we praise Trouble Bound’s passion for sticking to their roots and reminding everyone about the beauty of kustom kulture. Their collection of customs are so varied, ranging from Rainbow’s immaculate Chevy Impala to Shane Adlington’s no hood rat rod.
