For automotive enthusiast Bret Voelkel, autocrossing is not just a passion, it’s also his job. That’s because as the owner and founder of Ridetech, Voelkel not only races his own vehicles in autocross competitions, he also provides fellow competitors with advice and the suspension components they need to create a successful autocross car. Check out what Voelkel had to say about Goodguys AutoCross and his company’s products at the Goodguys 13th Del Mar Nationals earlier this month in the video above.
While Voelkel has his choice of competition cars, including the famous 48 Hour Camaro, it was his ‘33 Ford hot rod that he chose to bring to the 13th Del Mar Nationals, held the first weekend of April in the sunny coastal city of Del Mar, California. And if you scoff at the idea of a classic hot rod taking on something like the Goodguys AutoCross competition, well, you don’t know Voelkel or his work very well.
Just last year, Voelkel won the Goodguys AutoCross Championship behind the wheel of his Ridetech-equipped hot rod while fellow company representative, head engineer Brit Marolf, piloted the company’s 48 Hour Camaro (also highly equipped with Ridetech suspension components) to a Goodguys Pro-Class victory and Optima Faceoff second-place finish. To say that Voelkel and his crew know just what a successful autocross vehicle needs, is an understatement.

Although Voelkel has proved this time and time again, he impressed with the best at the early-April event, remarking on the fun of the competition and the opportunity Goodguys AutoCross has given him to showcase his company’s products.
With Voelkel’s experience and talent in designing and manufacturing performance suspension components, we can’t wait to see what Ridetech comes up with next. But for now, just sit back and enjoy a bit of autocross action with the famous Ridetech hot rod.
