Cars are individual expressions of their owners and no matter how similar they may seem, there is something unique about all of them. For Bruce Gustafson’s 1969 Camaro, it’s the car’s story, as well as a few finishing touches Gustafson refused to budge on, that makes it unique. Show the Drive is all about car owners enjoying their cars through the drive and Gustafson definitely does just that with his ‘69 Camaro.

Bought for Gustafson by his wife when he was in Iraq, the Camaro has taken the place of a 1971 Nova Gustafson had growing up and sold earlier in life.

When Gustafson arrived home after deployment in 2009, the Camaro was sitting in his garage, but it wasn’t in nearly the condition it is today.

The perfectly straight body work, sleek green paint and assembly of all the car’s muscular components came later compliments of Ronnie Geeslin and his shop Ronnie’s Hot Rods in Senatobia, Mississippi.

Under the hood, the Camaro features a Chevy 383ci small block upgraded with a COMP Cams roller camshaft, COMP lifters, pushrods and Magnum Roller Rockers, as well as Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads.

Backed by a TCI 700R4 transmission, the 383 makes for the perfect driver’s engine with just enough oomph without being too crazy for the street.

Gustafson’s Camaro is gorgeous and just different enough, especially with that green paint, to stand out in a crowd.

In fact, it stands out just enough that it has been chosen to be part of the Builder’s Showcase at the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky this week. What makes your car different from the rest?
