If you had to choose between the 2015 Camaro Z28 and the 2015 Camaro ZL1, which would you choose? One is a stripped-out track monster, the other a supercharged road beast, and either could be considered the pinnacle of fifth-generation Camaro engineering. It’s the classic grocery store conundrum, and usually the safest bet is to just buy both (if you can afford it).

So that’s what one particular Camaro fan decided to do, though only after getting both of his supercar Camaros worked over by the speed freaks at Hennessey Performance Engineering. It also probably comes as no surprise that the new owner of this pair of powerful Camaros has access to an air strip, allowing Hennessey to produce this slick video where all 1,650 horsepower can be put on display.

For you math wizards out there, that means we’re likely dealing with the HPE650 and HPE1000 packages on these two Camaros, although Hennessey doesn’t specify in the video description. That would be the HPE650 ZL1 and the HPE1000 Z28. Both offer staggering performance that is rarely matched by supercars at four to ten times the price.

With that in mind the Hennessey-tweaked Z28 manages to pull ahead in the impromptu drag race between the pair of Camaro supercars, keeping its lead throughout the contest of speed. That’s no surprise with a 0-60 time of just under 3 seconds, and a quarter mile capable time slip in the low 10s, a lower curb weight, a track-ready suspension, and in this case more horsepower than the ZL1, the result isn’t as surprising as it is plain old awesome. No wonder the buyer opted to get both, rather than just one or the other, even if they are the same color.
