Grab A Piece Of History With This Road Racing Grabber Blue Mustang

b302clone1These days, original cars with low mileage have become almost unobtainable to the average Joe. With some cars reaching six figures – and some hitting seven – it’s enough to make you despise the rich for setting the trend. While the rest of us work to the bone and try to make an honest living, we are left with the remnants of the automotive hobby, the cars that others deem not worthy of six figures.

b302clone2But that’s not an entirely bad thing, because for many of us the joy is the ride, not the price tag. We love these classic musclecars because of what they meant, what they look like, and more importantly, for how they perform. If you’ve got 500+ horsepower under the hood, is it any less fun just because the fender came off a different car that was totaled and left to rot in a wrecking yard?

And if it’s the looks that kill, for you, then why not get something that has those killer looks without the killer price tag? That’s what this seller is doing with this absolutely gorgeous Grabber Blue 1970 Mustang Boss 302 road racer clone. But instead of making this a full clone, it’s only the jacket that clones the original, because underneath is a wealth of performance goodies that make it that much better.

For power, a Ford Performance Solutions 383 stroker with AFR heads and forged crank and H-beam rods is pumping out roughly 550 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Fueling the runners is a Holley 830 cfm carburetor sitting on an Edelbrock Victor Jr Air Gap, with a solid roller cam and full roller valvetrain handling the duties internally.

b302clone3The full MSD ignition handles the fires, and Hooker Super Comp long-tube headers feed a mandrel-bent exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers spitting the burnt juices out the back. Putting the power to the Currie 9-inch rearend and Detroit Truetrac differential is a Tremec TKO 3550 five-speed transmission with a Hurst Billet Plus shifter. Stopping the madness that makes this beast fly is a full set of Wilwood brakes, with six-piston calipers on 12.5-inch rotors up front, and four-piston calipers on 10-inch rotors out back.

Just the list of goodies that this pony car possesses ups the ante and makes this not just a clone, but a re-engineered clone for this century. Is it worth the asking price of $37,500? Well, you just have to ask yourself: does it matter that the numbers don’t match? Not to us.
