Most regions of the country have an annual show that represents the epitome of not just classic cars but kustom kulture in its entirety. These summits supersede a love for cars and spotlight an appreciation and awareness of an entire culture with hot rods and kustoms being one facet.
Ink-N-Iron, coming up on its 11th year this June, is such an event–it also happens to be one of the more racier ones catering to the edgier side of the golden age ramped up by modern flavor–from burlesque shows and pole dancers to an international tattoo convention and a summit for car clubs and individual builders, this event definitely transports you to another world!
The event takes place every June and the setting is at the dock site of the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. The conjured images of another age and the sensationalized tales of ship hauntings lend themselves to the atmosphere of INI.
As visitors walk up the gangways and onto the ship they find themselves transported to a modern bizarre of some of kustom kulture’s biggest pillars. The ship’s multiple levels house the worlds most talented tattoo artists tattooing attendees from several continents. The boiler room is transported into a cabaret of seduction that will test the psychology of even the most stone faced denizen of modesty.
If the air gets to be too thick down there visitors can take a breather and walk the courtyard where iconic bands perform and provide top fuel entertainment while visitors check out some of the best hot rods and kustoms from all around.
The production of INI has grown and improved with each year. There are so many updates flowing in through the social feeds that it’s best to stay up to date by visiting the Ink-N-Iron homepage. There you’ll find a detailed list of the schedule of events during INI weekend, admission information, and the answers to everything else you can think up.
Stay up to date and consider coming to one of Southern California’s biggest events of the year–you won’t be disappointed!
