Listen, last year we made a big deal about how so many companies had jumped into the vintage Mopar aftermarket swimming pool. It’s kind of a sad statement that it took the acquisition by Fiat to finally free up Mopar’s licensing to a slew of additional manufacturers. But hey, that’s what happened, and you know what? It’s awesome. Why? Because the Mopar enthusiast is the one who reaps all the benefit.
We recently had installed a set of really trick double adjustable shocks on our ’69 Dodge Charger project car, “Killer Kong.” Since we really loved how they turned out, we thought we’d drop by QA1 and thank them for sending them out.
Much to our surprise, we discovered that QA1 had undergone some serious restructuring, most notably in the way of its recent purchasing of CAP Products, and opening up a huge manufacturing wing to their Minnesota facilities. Seems like QA1 has hit a growth spurt.
We talked with Corey Flynn who explained, “We don’t want people to say, ‘I have QA1 shocks’ anymore. We want to hear, ‘I’ve got QA1 suspension.’ That’s where we’re going with this.” After acquiring CAP, QA1 took what they had accomplished and improved upon it the way only QA1 could have. Now, QA1 is offering a selection of front-end suspension products for classic Mopar A, B, and E-Bodies that’ll not only hack out some unnecessary weight, but improve front-end rigidity, ride and strength.
The list of goodies is equal to their existing Mustang and GM A-Body lines, so Mopar lovers have reason to rejoice. A complete tubular K-member will replace your factory sandwich-stamped unit, as well as tubular upper and lower control arms, aluminum fully-adjustable Dynamic strut bars, end links and lots, lots more. We’re really considering this stuff for good ol’ Kong after our shock install, ’cause y’know, we’d like to say we’ve got QA1 suspension too.
