Some guys ride bucking broncos, some get on an angry bucking bull to get their adrenaline fix. This guy gets on top of his hot rod and smokes the tires. File this one under the don’t try it at home category, check out this two minute video.
The owner of this beautiful roadster fires the car up, and drives it through some water he’s laid out on the street to get the Hoosier tires wet.
What happens next, though, is where things get crazy. He apparently sets a line lock or other form of brake control, then climbs out and sits astride the blown small block Chevy engine. Grabbing the throttle in his hand, he easily gets the rear tires spinning, while hanging onto the steering wheel with his left hand.
The burnout only lasts about fifteen seconds, which is still nearly twice as long as most rodeo bull rides. Still that length of time is long enough to generate plenty of smoke, as well as some great sound from the hot rod’s engine.
Thankfully there’s no drama and no one gets hurt during the video, though we can’t stress enough that while it’s definitely fun to watch, we absolutely don’t recommend you try this yourself.
Climbing out on the cowl, and sitting astride the engine, the tire smoke begins.
Providing power for all that smoke is a small block Chevy with Motown heads, topped off with a Weiand 6-71 blower, and dual Holley 750 carbs. The owner says the whole car with driver weighs a scant 2300 lbs. It’s all exhaling through a set of lakester style headers, and the total combination makes 650 hp.
With increasingly wild stunts appearing all the time, we’re wondering who will try to one up this video – though we aren’t encouraging anyone to try!
