At PRI 2012, Professional Products introduced their latest ignition system the Powerfire VI. Their latest ignition innovation is a far cry from where the company first started nearly 15 years ago.
“We first started 12 or 13 years ago developing intake manifolds for small block Chevys’,” explained Micheal McClelland of Professional Products. “That converted to where we now have 56 different intake manifold part numbers, and it just grew from there.”
It wasn’t much longer when Professional Products extended it’s reach beyond intake manifolds to ignition systems. McClelland explained that about 6 years ago they entered into partnership with Retrotek Speed which is now a division of Professional Products. Over the past 6 years, they developed various different ignitions products that led Professional Products to the Powerfire VI.
The Powerfire VI combines all the power and efficiency of a digital CDI system, with the enhanced features of a built-in rev limiter and dual step rev control. The unit is unique in that is a completely adjustable ignition system that doesn’t need a laptop plugged in to adjust the box.
“The rotary dials are adjustable from 1,000 to 9,900 RPMS,” McClelland explained to us. “There’s a lot of ignition systems out there, but one of the main benefits of the Powerfire is the two/dual step being included in the box, most competitors require you to pay extra for a separate add-on module.”
Features:
- High output multi-spark ignition system provides quicker acceleration and throttle response plus better driveability.
- Advanced digital technology technology provides 1/4 degree timing accuracy up to 10,000 rpm.
- Digital circuitry creates more performance with lower power draw compared to analog systems found in some competitive units.
- Produces powerful spark up to 15,000RPM
- Outputs over 530 volts and up to 135mJ of energy.
- Provides 20 degrees of spark duration
- adjustable digital rev limiter built in.
Amazingly Professional Products was able to manufacture the Powerfire VI to work on 4, 6, and 8 cylinder applications and with a price point of under $240.
