When we think of Ford Racing these days, we most often think of drag racing, with some drifting and rallycross thrown in for good measure. But back in the day Ford competed across a wide swath of motorsports, including Class B rallying and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But these racing series were expensive, keeping many would-be racers on the sidelines.
Then came along the Formula Ford series, which used stock, easily-available engines and, more importantly, allows for a wide array of chassis and engine modifications. Formula Ford is where a number of racing greats got their start. The video above is the story of one of them, Gavin Halls, who after years of retirement is looking to restart his racing career in a Formula Ford car.
Halls began his racing career at a young age, and it was right around the mid-2000s that he wanted to really push it to the next level. After saving up all year, Halls managed to enter a big race, and on the final lap he wrecked hard, ending his budding racing career.
After that, Halls took a step back from racing. But time doesn’t stop moving forward, and though he got married and started a family, that urge to race never died down. Six years later Halls found himself wanting to get back into the seat, and he finally found the funding to do so.
The YouTube movie is just 20 minutes long, but for those of us trying to follow our dreams like Gavin, it really hits home. So when you get a chance, we HIGHLY recommend kicking back and watching this inspiring story of a man trying to once again chase down his dreams.
