Here's a shot of the GTO cruising the neighborhood. I wonder if Jim knew back then that he would keep the Pontiac this long?
If you were to go through your family’s old home movies, what would you find? Usually you’ll see footage of relatives who have passed on, and you might even catch a glimpse of an old car or two. Sometimes you might even see your grandparents standing in front of the family sedan.
Watching these old home movies tends to leave people filled with various types of emotion, and usually a little misty eyed. But how would you react if you saw vintage 1964 footage of a brand new GTO cruising around the block and kicking ass at the local dragstrip with one of your older relatives behind the wheel?
If we were to guess, filled with nostalgia and pure joy. At least that’s how we would feel if it were us. To make it even better, what if that relative was still among the living, and still drag raced that Goat to this day? Now you’re talking!
We ran across this home movie just right at a time when we were in the mood for some awesome GTO action. According to the video description the owner of this GTO, Jim “Old Man” Taylor, is alive and well and still racing. How awesome is that?
He recently sent the video to MuscleCarFilms.com and it was hosted by his friend simply known as “MaccaIsntDead” on YouTube. Since there is absolutely no sound like every other vintage 8mm film out there, the editor dubbed “Little GTO” by Ronnie and the Daytonas into the film. We approve.
