This year in March at the third annual Goodguys Spring Nationals, they will be giving away a wild 1971 HEMI Challenger. So here it is, take a look at this work in progress. The guys over at RPM Hot Rods have been thrashing to get this baby done in time for the Spring Nationals.
The body sits on a custom Roadster Shop chassis, and the engine is a fresh Gen III 392 HEMI built by Indy Cylinder Head Service. The body will feature a paint scheme taken from Don Carlton’s legendary pro-stock Challenger the “Motown Missile,” but it will bear the name Goodguys Missile.
The idea for the cars look was actually chosen by way of a contest that was held by Goodguys in January of 2011. Steve Stanford, a veteran illustrator and designer was the winner of the Goodguys 2012 giveaway design contest.
His rendering of the “Motown Missile” Challenger was chosen from 18 designs that were submitted by top designers from all over the country. Stanford works over at Custom Rod Garage, designing Street rods and custom builds for all their customers.
The finished Challenger will make its debut in Scottsdale, Arizona at Westworld during the Goodguys Spring nationals, which takes place March 9, through March 11, 2011. We will keep you posted as the build progresses, but make sure you go to the Goodguys website to find out how you can win this one-of-a-kind wild HEMI Challenger. Judging by the pictures we have, this is going to be a top-notch build, wouldn’t you just love to have this parked in your garage.
