Taking place on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Original Farmers Market is the 21st Annual Gilmore Heritage Auto Show. The show’s theme this year commemorates 60 years of the iconic Ford Thunderbird, featuring 100 classic and vintage American cars.
Not to mention, this year’s show will include a wide variety of Thunderbirds from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and the iconic Thunderbird featured in the Oscar winning movie “Thelma & Louise,” starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. Courtesy of The Petersen Automotive Museum, the Thunderbird from the movie became a significant part of popular culture after its role in the highly successful film.
Ford envisioned the Thunderbird as a personal luxury car when they unveiled the automobile in 1955. Deemed sleek and sophisticated, the Thunderbird was also reliable as Ford carries through all the vehicles they manufacture.
“We’re excited to celebrate 60 years of the classic Thunderbird,” said Ilysha Buss, Farmers Market Marketing Director. “These cars truly symbolize American popular culture. The quality and variety of cars at our show always makes it enjoyable, but having beautiful and iconic T-birds on display will make this year especially memorable.”
Despite the Thunderbird’s untimely end of production in 2005, it remains a piece of American automotive history as well as a favorite among classic car collectors. Free to the public, the 21st Annual Gilmore Heritage Auto Show will be sure to draw a crowd.
Whether it is for the farmers market or the car show, call it a double whammy. Fresh food and fresh cars; it doesn’t get any better. Given it’s in June, it should make for a hot, sunny day outside that’ll only make the cars glisten that much more.
With an end of the show drive by, all the cars at the show drive out into the sunset together. What more could you ask for from a car show? To find out more information about the event, feel free to click here.
