When one of the most influential institutions in hot rodding celebrates the 80th anniversary of what may be the most celebrated vehicle ever produced, it is no surprise that the resulting event would be spectacular. Deuce Week at the Petersen Automotive Museum was a celebration of the 1932 Ford Model A and its impact on the automotive world and especially hot rodding.
The four-day event was needed to fit the magnitude of the occasion and included a star-studded gala celebration and concert, a “Legends” banquet and discussion program along with organized tours of local hot rod shops and private automotive collections. The Saturday “Deuce Day” event featured a show of over four hundred privately owned renditions of the 1932 Ford. All of these festivities along with the Petersen Museum’s stellar collection of iconic hot rods and memorabilia combined to be an event that any hot rod enthusiast would die to attend.
The Deuce has been presented in an almost unlimited variety of configuration over the years. The So-Cal Speed Shop roadster, record breaking speed record car of Munz/Busby and the standard setting Doane Spencer roadster were just a few of the offerings on display at Deuce Week.
Fortunately for those who may have missed it, Car Crazy Central chronicled this event on video. Show host Barry Meguiar interviewed many hot rodding and automotive design legends that attended such as Chip Foose, Pete Chapouris, Troy Ladd and Bruce Meyer while the camera captured great images of iconic Deuces. The So-Cal Speed Shop roadster, Munz/Busby Bonneville racer and the impeccable Doane Spencer roadster which is considered by many to be the gold standard for the classic hot rod are just a few of the amazing cars represented in this video.
