A few weeks ago, we forwarded a teaser that supercharger-powerhouse ProCharger was putting the final touches on their C8 Corvette supercharger package. Thankfully, just before Christmas, they’ve left the Bow-tie, but pulled the wrapping back a little bit more with a video that shows the car on the dyno.

While the great temptors at ProCharger continue to tease us with only tidbits of goodness, we do get to hear those soothing sounds of the LT2 straining under boost against those rollers. We also get to see the system in question— sort of. ProCharger states that more information will be forthcoming, but for now, we can put this recently-released video on loop and keep those sweet sounds flowing.

It appears the kit uses a variant of ProCharger’s P-1 street superchargers. As such, there appears to be much more performance at the ready but is likely limited for at least one of many reasons. ProCharger states the system uses 8-pounds of boost to kick up the C8’s power approximately 40-45-percent more. That makes for 200+ horsepower to the wheels, a solid 700 horsepower altogether! All that add-on fun can still be had on premium pump fuel thanks to ProCharger adding an air-to-water intercooler to keep intake charge temps in check.

The description states the LT2 gets treated to a new CNC’d, billet intake system, and the images on ProCharger’s blog show a helping of other billet goodies which serve to keep the supercharger steady when the boost levels rise. There seems to be an additional, fabricated plenum that serves to bridge the gap between the throttle body and the manifold-mounted, air-to-water intercooler. They describe the system as a “bolt-on” design that can be installed using common hand tools. A plus for those who do their own stunts, mechanically-speaking.

ProCharger describes the kit as a “bolt-on” but we’ll have to wait to get more details about how they are handling the electronics side of things to add the additional fuel necessary. But, CHECK OUT THAT DRIVE SYSTEM!!!!

While the video contains a LOT of goodness, even with its short, sub-one-minute duration, there can be a lot of information gleaned from the comments section below it. One of the most common questions has to do with whether or not the C8’s ECU is capable of compensating for the additional fuel and air, or if ProCharger has figured out a way to manipulate the engine’s operation into safer waters. Each time, that question is met with deafening silence.

While the video may create more questions than answers, it’s comforting to know that the search for horsepower does continue to move forward, even with the “unhackable” 2020 Corvette’s electronics systems. As a bolt-on kit, this shows some potential of the LT2 engine, and it also hints as to the engine’s durability — but that can only be cemented more solidly as cars begin to get a few miles on them under boost. Until then, we’ll have these teasers to keep us yearning for more!
