Spotted at the 2015 Frankensteiners Ball in Anoka, Minnesota, we saw one custom that’s hot like fire. We’re talking about this 1950 Ford Business Coupe that is literally an automotive flamethrower, which was a spotlight for Tinman 2 Kustoms.
Igniting excitement and awe, this Ford was a show stopper at the Frankensteiners Car Club sponsored event. It wasn’t the only one at the show spewing flames, but it was one of the bigger draws at the show.
The 1950 Ford Business Coupe was purchased by the owner four years ago, which was just a shell initially. With the body straight as an arrow and all of the glass intact, the owner put in new rockers as well as patched the quarters and floorboards.
The engine under the hood is 350 cubic-inch small block V8, which is mated to a Ford Racing T5 five-speed manual transmission. The attention grabber of the vehicle is the huge pipes that protrude out back. The oxygen sensors welded right into the huge exhaust pipes, which can be seen right after the rear bumper.
Surprisingly the owner has claimed that he doesn’t get harassed with this excessive exhaust setup. Built from all used parts, it goes to show that you don’t necessarily have to buy everything new when building a rat rod like this.
Call it the fun side of rodding, this show-stopping Ford won’t be winning any awards at prestigious shows, but it is a toast to the world of rodding. Literally.
