Thanks to social media and YouTube, we’ve been exposed to rookie lawyers, sovereign citizenship, and know-it-alls who think they know better than the local police. It seems everyone with a smart phone is now turning to being a traffic law expert, and telling police officers that they know their rights, and refusing to comply with instructions given.
If you’re like us, you’ve likely had it up to here with all of these troublemakers who are out looking for trouble – then complain when they find it. Most of the time, they don’t get the audience reaction they expected, cite for a few other video-game-player-turned-law-experts who respond with comments like, “F#$% the cops” and “You should get a lawyer.”
But finally, we see a video like the one above that sheds some light on our rights, and provides a lot to laugh about in the parody from know-your-rights advocate Gilvin Daughtry, played by actor David Cross, and a traffic officer, played by Keegan-Michael Key – who is well known for his half of the comedy team Key and Peele.
In the beginning, it seems Daughtry wants trouble but doesn’t get it, so he goes back through the checkpoint time and time again just waiting for the officer to strike back. By the time he does get a reaction, it’s difficult to withhold the outbursts of laughter. There’s alcohol, broken tail lamps, swearing, and vomit involved, all of which Duaghtry tells us are well within our rights.
You have the right to crack up, and even to LMAO if you so desire.
You’ve probably laughed at these types of videos before, but not like this. This skit is part of an upcoming Netflix comedy show, and if the show has more of this, it just might be time to subscribe. Enjoy, and in case you didn’t know, Federal law implicitly states that it is well within your rights to laugh your ass off.
