While it may look puny, this Honda Civic means business. With a 2.2L V-Tec swapped in and an interior that has been stripped for weight reduction, it’s prepped and ready for racing.
The young owner proudly showed off his ride to a couple of guys who owned 1970 Dodge Chargers. The Charger boys were impressed after they saw the engine bay, and all the work he did to his Civic. They decided to have a gentleman’s race at the stop light.
The 1970 Charger and the civic lined up at the stop light, and the result? Well what did you expect; the Charger won – easily. The Charger is a stock 1970 with a column shift. The driver attempted to shift the column like a manual which caused the Civic to get a slightly better launch.
However, in a split second the Charger found is rhythm and took the lead and the win. The Civic owner was a good sport and was impressed by the Charger’s raw power. They ended up taking him for a ride in the Charger and did a few burnouts, a handful of donuts, and infected him with a bad case of the American muscle virus.
The 1970 Charger is one of the most iconic Mopar muscle machines of all time. With sleek, rugged sexy styling, a long wheel base and an aggressive attitude and Plum Crazy paint job, this machine is the mother of all muscle cars. Its 383RB and 440RB turned out 335 and 375 horses respectively, which made it a force to be reckoned with on the street and at the strip.
Now, we don’t condone street racing, but it is nice to see that the pair can come to terms with the results and perhaps bring another disciple to the world of musclecars – and RWD.
They start off close but the Charger just goes!
