Enter the Dark Knight! Stumbling across the web, we came across a 1966 Batmobile replica that is sure to catch the eyes of comic book fans and Batman fanatics. Built from a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept, this Batmobile is fully custom and fully operational.
Created using the original George Barris specifications, the body is placed on top of a third-generation Corvette chassis that has been stretched four feet. Furthermore, it has the third-generation Corvette front suspension and power disc brakes.
A 350ci Buick V8 engine rests under the hood, complete with an Edelbrock four barrel carburetor. This Batmobile is indeed fast and has plenty of power to save the day.
As for the interior, this Batmobile replica features several of the gadgets that were used in the original Batman television series, which aired from 1966-68. From the push-button ignition to the afterburner in the rear, it all works on this Batmobile replica.
Other gadgets include the Detect-A-Scope, Emergency Turn Lever, Bat Beacon and even The Bat Phone are all carefully crafted and resemble its original counterparts.
Truly a sight to behold, this Batmobile was an innovative and ingenious design from George Barris, an American automotive designer and builder of many famous Hollywood custom cars.
Other notable works from Barris include a fully customized gold Rolls Royce for actress Zsa Zsa Gabor. The Rolls Royce featured detailed work from Barris and also had hand-etched window glass from Robb Rich that displayed hummingbirds, butterflies and roses.
