With all the attention surrounding the Viper’s 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat stable mates, the snake has been feeling a little underappreciated lately with its “measly” 645 ponies (despite its superior power-to-weight ratio). No matter though, the folks at RSI Racing Solutions have bolted a pair of turbochargers on to the Viper TA’s 8.4-liter V10, turning what was already a world-class performer into a fire-spitting, tire decimating monster of a supercar.
Now boasting 1042 horsepower at the wheels at 9.5 pounds of boost and sounding like a fully automatic howitzer when the throttle gets stabbed, the twin turbocharged Viper turns those 355-section Pirellis into smoke in very short order, and when things get going, they seriously get going. If that’s not enough, RSI can also tune that TA to make a nearly unbelievable 1500 rear wheel horsepower using either E85 or race gas.
It goes without saying that the parts list for these upgrades are extensive, and an RSI-built gearbox, differential, shortblock and engine internals all grace the options sheet, so it’s worth keeping in mind that this really isn’t just a pair of turbos slapped on an otherwise stock Viper TA. RSI gets extra bonus points for their appearance package, which consists of special floor mats, a paint-matched engine bay and badges for a low-profile aesthetic that could easily be mistaken for a stock Gen 5 Viper.
