At the end of 2009 Dodge announced that production of the Viper would be stopped, and that the final Vipers would roll off the line in the summer of 2010. It was a sad day as one of the most intrinsically American performance cars of all time became just another casualty of the recession.

It's not huge by any means, but the 2013 Viper does offer a good bit of interior and cargo space, especially considering it's a two-seater.

We’re happy to say that those days are officially over, and the newest SRT Viper has finally been moved from the hands of engineers, journalists, reviewers and into the hands of real-life owners. Over the last few weeks the first batch of 800 Dodge 2013 SRT Vipers have been delivered, and have already been hitting the streets and tracks across America.

As we reported back in February, the initial allotment of 2013 Vipers quickly sold out, leaving a waiting list a mile long for the next batch – and it’s not surprising why. The Viper is back in true form with a 640 horsepower V10 that is just as likely to terrify you as it is to thrill you, and styling that could (in our opinion) make it the best looking Viper model to date.

According to a report in the Detroit News, Dodge’s Conner Assembly plant is back up and running at maximum capacity for production of the second run of new Vipers – just 14 cars per day. SRT Brand Chief Ralph Gilles told reporters from the Detroit News, “It’s a handmade car. It’s really a laborious process.” Hey, good things come to those who wait, right?  Would you like to get your hands on a new Viper just to give it a test drive?
